Lecture notes on General Surgery, now in its 9th edition, remains a concise best-selling textbook of surgery which has helped hundreds of thoussands of students pass finals. In addition, many MRCS candidates now use the book as a rapid revision aid on the principles of surgery. This edition has been completely revised and updated.

About the Author
David Dunn died whilst in the process o creating this third edition of Dunn’s Surgical Diagnosis and Management. He was as outstanding teacher of surgery. His logical mind saw many ways of providing essential information in an easily digestible format - a great benefit to generations of students at the Cambridge Clinical Medical School and the original basis for this book.

His initial training was at Cambridge and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and he returned to Cambridge, firstly as Assistant Director of Research to the Academic Surgical Unit and subsequently to the NHS Consultant staff, to which he was appointed in 1974 and on which he remained until his premature retirement through ill health in 1997.

During his twenty-three years as a Consultant he displayed a keen interest in many of the emerging areas of surgical practice; these included transplantation, vascular and paediatric surgery, surgical audit and latterly, and with tremendous success, minimally invasive techniques. His ability to identify likely areas of surgical expansion was uncanny, and few surgeons in modern times have been able to achieve such success in so many different fields.

He overall surgical ability stemmed from a very secure basic knowledge. His concise analysis of surgical principles form the cornerstone of this highly successful book, written with Nigel Rawlinson, his former House Surgeon, and now into its third edition. This book will continue to be deservedly popular at Cambridge and at many other Clinical Schools for years to come, and will remain a lasting tribute to its senior author.

Zunächst gilt es zu erläutern, welche Voraussetzungen die Jugendlichen hatten, als der Punk Ende der siebziger Jahre aus Großbritannien nach Deutschland kam. Denn genau dieser Zeitraum, soll in der Arbeit näher untersucht werden, da hier der Punk aufgrund seiner Aussagen nach Deutschland kam. Im Laufe der Jahre veränderten sich teilweise grundlegende Aussagen des Punk und er zerfiel in verschiedene Gruppen, die in dieser Arbeit keine Rolle spielen sollen. Doch welche gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse erlebten die Jugendlichen und was für Zukunftsperspektiven sahen sie selber für sich als realisitisch zu der Zeit als Punk nach Deutschland kam? Denn schwierige Situationen, mit denen die Jugendlichen zu kämpfen hatten, würde die Flucht in eine Lebensalternative leichter verständlich machen. Doch was wollten Jugendliche durch diese Lebensweise ausdrücken? Ist es eine Flucht aus der gegenwärtigen Situation, lediglich eine Protesthaltung oder die Forderung nach einer Verbesserung? Um dieses festzustellen soll untersucht werden, inwiefern man Punk als politische Bewegung definieren kann und wie weit Punk geht, um eigene Ansichten zu vertreten und durchzusetzen. Dafür wird zunächst definiert, was eine politsche Bewegung überhaupt charakterisiert, um im Laufe der Arbeit bestimmte Merkmale zuordnen zu können. Interessant dabei ist die Reaktion, die Punks durch Aussagen oder Aktionen sowohl in der Politik als auch in der Gesellschaft hervorrufen, um festzustellen inwiefern sie eine Wirkung in der Öffentlichkeit erzielten. Janis Krempa, M.A., BCBA Janis is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst currently in private practice in Boston, Massachusetts. She has worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families for over 14 years. She received her undergraduate degrees in Education and Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and earned her Masters from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She did post-graduate work at UCLA and holds a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Education from Penn State. Janis currently teaches weekly social skills groups for students with language and learning disabilities. She consults with special education and regular education classrooms to develop meaningful inclusion opportunities for ASD students and to create a best-practices model for teaching skills, as well as managing behavior using ABA. She strives to make ABA interventions practical and accessible for students, teachers, parents and other professionals. Kelly McKinnon, M.Ed., BCBA Kelly is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst currently in private practice in Southern California. She has worked with children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities for more than 13 years. Kelly earned her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College in 1992 and has a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Education from Penn State. She works extensively with families and children with autism, at home and at school, and has recently worked with schools in Southern California to develop social skills training programs as part of their classroom curriculum. Kelly also trains families and school districts on how to implement effective techniques in the teaching and support of children with autism using an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) approach, demonstrated to be one of the most effective methods of teaching social skills.

The book is great! If you work with high-functioning kids on the spectrum it is a good resources.However the Kindle version is super bad. It does not include the tables or graphics or pictures or anything. The Social Skills Checklist is a mess.I honestly regret buying the kindle version, better add a couple of $ and buy the paperback.I guess it is my fault, as I should have checked how it looked, but I bought other kindle version books and never had an issue.

Best book ever to help find activities that help everyone, but especially those kids with sensory issues. Covers a wide range, going way beyond the "five" senses. It's years old and I still use it as a reference.

I've been working as a Para-educator for autistic kids for 2 years and been looking for a book like this for awhile. This is really a hands-on manual that instead of just having ideas it has a plan. I love the appendix that has the worksheet and visual aid ideas. This book uses the ABA approach and breaks everything down into modules so you are not trying to work on too many problems at once.I have shown this to many people at work and they all love it. This will be a book I always recommend. Even though I am not a social worker or psychologist this is a book they should own too!

There are no pages in the appendix, which is an issue if you are taking a class and your professor assigns things by page numbers, or wants to reference things in the appendix by page numbers. My social skills class was a disaster because I could never figure out what page I needed to be at. The formatting is a little off. Over all a great book, but had I known how it would have looked on my kindle, I would've bought the paperback.

Social Skills Solutions is a must have for any parent who is teaching their child the valuable social skills. The book is well written, easy to read and has great ideas for activities. The checklist is very helpful in determining what areas need work and the Module System really helps me to go step by step in teaching social skills.
